anybody buy the new cusco front power brace. It looks like it bolts in to the stock crash beam location.

It is supposed to. I know I read that you will have to cut parts of th crash beam to fit it properly. I plan installing to whole set. If you get it let us know your oppinion on it.

The Cusco Front Mount Power Brace is a good solution for those people running aftermarket front bumpers. Most of the aftermarket front bumpers require you to remove the USDM front crash beam.

These aren't my pictures. I got them from a local members thread to give you and idea what you are looking at.

Original: http://www.norcalevo.net/index.php?o...8.0#quickreply

here it is. the Cusco front brace.

1) unbolt, remove bumper.

2) locate mounting points
10mm screw

12mm screws

3) time to remove the crash beam
10mm screws

4) vise versa for the other side

5) the crash beam are on those hangers, so just pull the beam straight out.

6) you'll need to remove the plastic shrouds. just pop out the 3 clip-on bolts
and the same for the other side ( just 1 clip-on bolt)

7) then you would need to remove the crash beam bracets
12mm screws (x3) for both sides

damn rust...

8) for the drivers side, you'll need to relocate the horn.
10mm screw

relocate the horn to the 12mm screw point. (note: in the pic the horn is aimed to the right. you'll want to turn it aiming downward. otherwise you wont be able to fit the bumper back on)

9) mounting the Brace
10mm screw x1, 12mm screw x2 for each side

bolt on complete

left overs: weight reduction

finally, bolt the bumper back in place

purchased through speed element. saves a little weight (~8lbs if i remember correct) and seems like it would allow more air to hit the intercooler.

Does this help with chasis stiffening? or is it just a replacement of the crash beam?
