Will the sandblasting and powdercoating get rid of minor curb rash

Will the sandblasting and powdercoating get rid of minor curb rash

Im trying to find a set of oem evo 8 wheels to powdercoat black, i found 2 in mint shape, and 2 more than have some minor curbing on teh edges

just thinking here, when tehy sandblast the rims and then powdercoat will the curbing go away? and look normal

looks good,except only thing is im going to have the wheels off the car and brought to be sandblasting/powdercoated.. imnot too familiar about sandblasting but doesnt that like sandingoff the wheel, wouldnt the puddy just come off

it may be a stupid question

xk120, thats pretty cool. i just recently gotten a curb rash on one of my enkei wheels. pretty mad about it too. im gonna try your technique out. thanks alot for sharing.

sandblasting the wheels will only take off some of the curb rash,,,best bet would be to get them blasted, then do some putty work like xk120 did but do not paint it, just sand it litely, after sandblasting the wheels will have a somewhat rough finish on them till there powder coated

I had my alloy rims on my old car sandblasted to remove some of the curb rash before powdercoating.How ever deep the rash is, determines your results by sandblasting them. I only had minor pits, and slight scuffing. I sanded down the scuffs before i sent it in for powdercoating. Ended up turning out like new rims.

Same here. I used a palm sander and worked from the point of the scuff out around the circumference of the rim in both directions. It doesn't have to be perfect as sandblasting will even everything out.
