Some Killer Detailing Products (Especially for dark paint)
I just wanted to write about some new detailing products that I recently tried out. I have a Tarmac Black Evo, and as you all know, Black is officially the hardest to keep clean and lusturious.
I have tried almost all of the "over the counter" products on different color cars always looking for something spectacular for black paint (since I've owned 5 black cars). Turtle wax, forget it, zymol, pretty good, maguires, my favorite until now...
My new favorite hands down, bar none is POOR BOYS and CLEARKOTE!!! The stuff works amazing and I am here to recommend it to any and everyone. It is easy on, easy off and over the last three weeks the shine has not faded a bit.
I can almost get away with just hosing the car down and it looks pretty good. If I wash it, it looks like the day I waxed it. Bugs dont stick as bad and dirt practically falls off the paint.
I am truely impressed and am by no means in affiliation with these companies. I have talked to a couple guys who work at body shops and they look at me funny when I say how good this stuff works cause theyre so used to using it, they think everyone knows about it, but I didnt so Im sharing with you guys.
Check out www.glimmerglassdetailing.com to view some of these products as well as pics of them applied to some cars. Chris is the guy who I got hooked up with there and he is awesome and knows these products very well.
I used (based on his advice) the Poorboys polish, then the Clearkote red moose glaze, then two coats of Nattys blue paste wax. If you have a different color car, there are different types of wax that are better but Im not sure about all the combintations. Also, if your paint is very rough and oxidized, Id recommend claybaring it prior to polishing. If you're looking for a one step processes, the Poorboys EX works great too (although not as good as a polish, glaze, wax) but I used it on my girlfriends car and she even noticed how good it made her car look and she doesnt pay attention to her car at all.
I've always dreaded detailing my cars cause even maguires can be difficult to buff off and the shine always seems to fade rather quickly, but poorboys works and is pretty easy to apply/remove and I promise you will be impressed too.

I used about 1/4 bottle of the polish and Glaze and about 1/3 of the wax (and I did two coats). You can probably get almost two years of detailing out of that package if youre like me. I detail once a year and wax 2 other times. The wash will probably go fast, since I like to wash once a week.

Poorboy's is pretty well-known stuff, if you're into detailing anyway. I've never used it personally, but I've never heard anything negative about the line. I've always wanted to try it, but I heard too many rave reviews about other products that I bought instead. They need a sample kit, so I can try it out on the cheap w/o having a ton of product laying around if I'm not impressed.
I've been liking my FK1 sample package and Optimum Polish and Compound too much to try anything new for the last year. I believe FK1's site (www.fk1usa.com) is the only place to get their stuff, but Optimum products can be found all over the net. Both have excellent reviews on Autopia.org
