It's not an Evo... BUT

Well coming from you Tyrone Biggum, that means a whole lot!
Thanks for all the compliments about the car (and a few disses too )!! To answer a few questions: I actually had an S55 AMG (and two E55s before that, first the N/A then the supercharged version).. They are FAST machines, no doubt. The S class has Active Body Control which really tames the handling and lets you turn way harder than you should be able to in a car that big, but it still felt rather lackluster when you wanted to hear back from the car. It did what you asked, but didn't let you know how it felt about it.. The Alpina finally cured BMW's problem with low end acceleration (at least until the 335 came out) and boy did it ever! It's got a touch more power/torque than even the mighty 55K engine, is a few hundred lbs lighter, the steering is more responsive with better feel, there's no electronics in the suspension system, and it goes like hell! Not quite 4 flat like the E55 could muster on a good day, but it builds speed exponentially. During the test drive, what felt/sounded/seemed like 80 turned out to be a touch over 120... Yikes! It pulls some .92 on the skidpad, an amazing number for a big old sports/luxury saloon. BMW's handling has always been amazing, and Alpina's custom made engine really sealed the deal. The interior is really slick, too. It's got an Alpina black suede headliner (hand stitched!!), all of the 760 appointments, Alpina wheel/gauges, etc. Not quite an M5 from the handling standpoint, but damn close with 2 inches more rear seat room (two of my business partners are over 6 foot) and MUCH better acceleration. The M5 sounds heavenly, but really lacks in the low-end torque department.
Oh, and Alpina is a coachbuild, one step less involved with BMW than the ///M division. They actually have a separate final-assembly location, handbuild the supercharged engines, etc. They rarely bring Alpinas over as they usually compete too much (too well?) with the M cars, but since there was no M7...
P.S. Yall ought to check out the video of this thing and a CLK63 black series running around a skidpad. It's on MotorTrend.com I believe. Really goes for something this big!
