Will regular spray paint hold up if layered with high heat paint on valve cover??

Maybe I can buy 4 cans, HH primer, HH clear, HH paint and a standard paint. I can test with the standard paint, and if it doesn't work I only wasted one can. (And when I say test, I will paint a piece of sheet metal and bolt it to the valve cover, not paint the whole VC)

I used 1,200F paint (see paint can below) on my exhaust manifold heat sheild!
It is holding up with no problems. Use a similar 1,200F paint for your valve cover, and you should have no problems.

Go to a local auto parts store...and pick up any High Temp Engine enamel paint.
For the valve cover...anything 500 degrees and up with do just fine.
Shouldn't cost you more then $10/can.
* pick up a can of brake cleaner to clean the valve cover too before spraying.
