I've been waiting for this moment for a long time now.

Picking up a welder next week, should be on the road soon.

Good job Brent!!! I'm trailing right behind you. Unfortunately I've got 2 vacations in the next month which sets me back a little bit lol.

Look for a Miller or Lincoln mig if you can. I've been using a Lincoln PowerMig 180C for a good while and it's never let me down. Decently priced too.

By the way, I should be able to get my Mirage this summer. Things will be looking good in terms of money; However, after four years of being eligible for one, I have yet to get my license.

Lol! You seem to have the same problem I do. I've wanted to do this build for a loooonnnngggg time but kept picking up other projects. Finally decided to bite the bullet after I sold my evo8 and 2.5rsti.

Same here. I get project ideas going and find good deals.

PM'd you a couple links to keep cluster down in Brent's thread.

Dropping a 4G61T in Pseudo-Evo

As mentioned earlier in this forum, I'm getting my Mirage this summer.

I'm thinking about dropping an original JDM 4G61T engine in the Pseudo Evo IV, and tune it a little bit. The biggest reason why I want a 4G61T is due to saving gas, and it's much cheaper than any 4G63 or 4G63T (plus it looks cool).

Can I still convert the Mirage to All-Wheel-Drive with a 4G61 engine?

Here's a listing I'm currently looking at on eBay:

if you look closely, that motor IS from an all-wheel drive car... as it still has the transfercase bolted to it... so id think youd be just fine

Yep. I actually found out two nights ago. LOL

Is it possible to drop this, as well as the AWD/5-speed components in a later 1998-2001 Mirage without many problems, though? This engine looks too cool and well taken care of to let it pass by.

I started my own official thread here.

id imagine that would easily swap into an older mirage (or jdm evo 1-3). but if you notice the placement of the motor/trans, its the complete opposite of the evo 4-6, where the engine is on the right and yours is on the left...so there would be a ton of fabrication im sure, to get it to fit.. and end up costing you much more then just buying the proper 4g63 for that chassis

evo 1-3 (same as the motor your interested in buying, just a 1.6 instead of the 2.0))
