See this is what im thinking about doing. this guy has this 97 mirage for 500 but he says there is an oil leak and a water leak. At first i wanted to do this but then it dawned on me that i should get a 94 or 95 mirage 4dr and then take the 4g63t out of a old school dsm and swap an evo 3 tranny and 16g turbo kit and then buy an evo 5 hood and get a lancer emblem and be happy. if you could how much did all of this cost you and what do you think would be better to get the 97 mirage convert it to evo 4,5,6 or get the 95 mirage and convert to evo 1,2,3?

Well so far I have spent $4000 all-together in parts installed and to-be-installed on the car. The car itself was a fourth of that, so $3000 in modifications. I still have $700 left in bodywork/panels to purchase, and after that all that is left will be transmission and engine. The engine will run me about $2000 and the AWD transmission $1500 by the end, so I am looking at an $8200 Evo VI by the end of it all. And this is with me doing all the work.
So if you are thinking about doing this, an older Mirage is def. the best way to go, if you like either style. I mean you can find a junker 1G Eclipse and just rip out the engine and tranny and you are all set to go. And there is a good amount of Evo 1-3 parts on eBay, so you can run JDM panels for a relatively low price.
