I didn't like the wing at first, but now I kinda like it. In fact, most people that check out my car never even comment on the wing. They mostly wonder if the Brembos were stock, the wheels were stock, the bad-*** turbo is stock, etc. etc. People DO recognize the power parts right away. Even a little 4-yr old girl was pointing at the Brembos and poking her dad. Made me smile.
As for the wing issue - I thought about taking it off and I told the guys at RMR. I was just going to removed the whole trunk and put a CF trunk on. Blair @ RMR told me that when they were messing with the rally car with no wing, it got REALLY unstable as speeds climbed. After doing 140 in New Mexico, I believe it. I think the only safe solution for not having the wing would be to have some sort of small lip along the trailing edge of the trunk, but then you'll look like a NECK-CAR ride instead of an Evo.

I saw a black EVO with the small wing at the dealership here. I think it actually looks pretty sweet....kinda understated, definitely fit the lines well...though i like the big one too

Here's mine with the small spoiler. I like it--I think it fits the body well and doesn't stick out too much; yet still maintaining a sporty look.
Chrisin hb--I finally got my RMR downpipe and exhaust--I put it on today and it is nice! Nice deep sound and huge power gains.

But the pre-release track reports on the car from various journalists also indicate that the car lacks high speed stability with the small spoiler.
Now "high speed" is a relative. If your version of high speed driving is creeping along the 405 in gridlock, you'd probably never get any use out of the c/f wing.
But if you like to put the needle on the other side of the speedo, once in a while (just to exercise the spring, you understand ), then you'll probably want the larger wing.
Besides, it's just the right height to block the truck headlights in the rear-view.
