INSTALLED / Schroth AutoControl Street Harness / PICS

I ran this street harness many years ago on my 91 GTI.......Keeps your butt planted, but allows you freedom of movement via the electronically sensor'd inertia reel.

The reel requires 12v ignition power.....It took a few hours.....There were a couple of minor PITA issues, but overall a clean install & the harness system works as designed

Edit: Added a couple of pics of my little alcohol beast =)

Peace

That's awesome! SO that sensor detects when you want to move around freely?

Hey Aaron........The kit lists for $229 & I bought it direct from the importer linked here: http://www.hmsmotorsport.com/store/s...autocontrol-II

If youre interested I would first check w/the vendors here & negotiate a better deal..........Also, the install took me a good 3 hours........My front seat is lowered so I had a few minor issues to overcome.............Best regards, Minus-Pre

The sensor is similar, although much more sensitive than the stock belts......When the car sees forces as in cornering or stopping, the sensor will tell the reel to "lock up". The belts are usually in the unlock mode during normal street driving. (BTW, the sensor has to be mounted true level as noted in the instructions)

Most will install a lockout switch to cut power to the reel which will give you full lock as when tracking

Very nice set up. I like how the belts are dark colored. Looks more OEM. Nice set up, thanks for sharing the info!

Saw this post link on a new post in the "How To" section
3 quick questions before i get serious about buy the Autocontrol

How exactly do you connect the rear reel assy. (Is it safe connecting it to the child restraint point?)
Also, Where did you get the power from?
Can you still use the OEM belts?

Thanks

Why did you remove the stock belt? Are you planning to just use the lap belt when you have passengers in the back?

No problem Bro. Let me know when you get it installed. Maybe Ill see you at one of the meets in the future

For those that are concerned about submarining watch some of the testing Schroth performed. All of their Street harnesses have the ASM Technology

The middle seat belts & reel were removed. Its the only clean way that works for me. You can run this system & still seat 4 if you disconnect the Schroth belt at the quick disconnect & use the stock front belts.
If youre concerned about reducing youre EVO's occupant capacity from 5 to 4, then this is not for you=)

Anyway, as Ive mentioned before, this Mod is not for everyone.

And LOL at Solenoid for reviving this thread which died over 2 years ago

Peace
