Evo 8 Tails Converted to 7's

So basically im too cheap to pay up the A$$ for some real Evo 7 Tail lights so i followed a write up on here and here is what came out

The write up i followed:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...olution-4.html

Masked them off.

1st Coat of Krylon Red Stained Glass Paint.

Did a second coat to make it a little deeper red...
I asked my good friend Freddy, who helped paint and did body work on the L from GST Motorsports, to shoot the clear on my lights for me. 3 coats of professional clear.

After a night of drying no buffing or sanding they came out CLEAN in my opinion

Also what kind of tape did you use to mask the lines?

Just looks like painters tape cut into strips the appropriate size. Good job with the tails

i used pin stripe tape i got from a auto body supply store it was 1/8 inch in width i had to use two strips per a line overlapping and it took around 2 hours to mask both off since i wanted it perfect. and my eyes hurt afterwards lol. yea that clear made it look great because without it, orange peel look is what they would turn out like. Thanks guys!

i had mine like this before with the same paint but have since removed it and switched to black vinyl.

The only thing u gotta watch out for is fading. mine became pink after about 3 months. a few good coats of clear like the OP stated should be sufficient however. Be sure to use a good clear

mine that faded had 2 thin coats of clear. not sure what kind the clear was however but it was out of an aerosol can. If i was every to do it again i would bring it to my body shop and have them just spray a few coats of the good clear on there and it would last for a long time.
