Couldnt you drill out the spot welds since you have to rivet the carbon hood anyway.

Grinding out the welds leaves 99% of the material on the underside panel. If I were to drill them out they would have been too big of holes for the rivets. Plus I can put them where I want when the time comes for the install, in some spots there are 3 or 4 welds right next to each other. It may look a little barbaric, but trust me, it is the better way.
