Lightbulb Gauge pod, steering column mounted, my design printing on SLS prototyping machine

Hey I just thought I'd share this one with you guys.

I took my work laptop home and designed a gauge pod on SolidWorks that can mount to the left side of the steering column between the wheel and dash so that it isn't completely blocking the speedometer and RPM's like mine is right now. I'm printing it out on the SLS prototyping machine right now. I'll let you know how it comes out. I'm sure there are other gauge pods out there for our cars, but does anyone know if there is one for the steering column that isn't just a universal pod?

Pic of the design. Still a work in progress... I want to make it flow better with the curves/lines of the interior. just messing around in my free time really

Design.

Nice. We build iphone docking stations on our FDM printer. We figure the in-house rapid proto machine should be doing at least 5% employee side projects!

yeah that or you could just get a pod and drill it into your column or maybe thats what you had. i dont see what is so wrong with that and IMO looks better than a molded pod like those... but thats just my opinion

Done, just sanded and painted it today. I went with glossy black, but I'm thinking a semi-gloss would be better. Maybe even flat.

That's what I had, LOVED it. Gave it away for free to a guy here even, it sat in my garage forever.
