This is why you buy the Quaife diff..

So I've had this puppy in since about Nov of last year and check it out! Its the OEM evo 7 lsd. I took all the necessary precautions and parts needed to install. Never gave me a problem, till now! I was wondering why i was getting such loud 2nd and 3rd gear chirps. My mod list is at the bottom. I don't have a AWD here in okc, but I'd say Im sitting right at 400awhp.

at first i thought it was the whole tcase, but i guess i lucked out.

definately looking into gettin the quaife now! haha

no noise at all! it just snuck up on me! lol, but everything else is A-OKAY! Im happy this exploded and not a set of those weak *** spider gears. if i still had a set of those in there, i would probably need new TCASE. stay on your fluid intervals guys! haha. I think I was just at the 10k mark.

That sucks man... hopefully you get it back on the road soon.

Thats some serious damage, esp for not launching it.

A local guy here has had his RA LSD blow up too. This has happend twice to him. Both were upon a launch.

I see in the second pic that there is only 1 shim on the lSD.

For those of you that have exploded them...did you check the side to side free play before installing it? If there is too much side to side free play, I think you are asking for trouble. You can check this when you have the diff inthe gear assambly. The diff will move side to side inside the gear assembly.

Think of it like this.....
The stub axles fit just inside of it. If it moves too far to one side or the other there is a change the stub axle will push too far into it, thus locking it up and BOOM.

Another thing to consider is that if the car is lowered too much the half shaft may be pushing in on the T-Case a bit too much, causing a bit of a bind. (Just a guess here)

Biggest thing to look out for, in my mind, is wheel hop. Front wheel hop kills diffs.

I'm in your boat man. I have my car up on a lift as we speak and I'm getting the T-Case fully built by Shep Trans. I blew my Diff out at the track. I've launched the car about 50+ times between street/strip. It's a price you pay to play...haha. Good luck with yours.
