My track/street evo IX build thread - heaps of pics
Hey everyone, now that my build is getting toward the end (for now at least) I figured I may as well share it over here is well. Since buying the car last year I have been documenting the progress in a thread on the Australian Evo forum evolutionoz.net so I will just copy and paste those posts mostly.
Hope you like it...

How it looked when I bought it...
3 days later it got some Ferrodo DS3000 pads all round, all new fluids and a wheel allignment ready for the track...
Since the car is an "advertising" company expense I had to get it covered in my company logo. This was done last friday and im bloody happy with it. I love the clean look of a white evo so i didnt want to ruin it too much with a crazy decal job.
Hope you like it...

After having done a track day or two it was time to get a bit more serious...
Had a set of Drummond Motorsport 50mm coilovers and the DMS camber tops fitted
Along with a Whiteline roll centre adjust kit.
very happy with the ride comfort and how it handles so far so cant wait to see how I go at the track in a couple of weeks.
the car looks way better sitting a couple of inches lower too
Also got a set of Kumho Ecsta KU36 tyres which i have heard great things about. they aren't any louder or rougher on the street than the Bridgestone Adrenalin's I had on before which is cool.

Also got this from my wife for Christmas...
Couldn't wait to fit it, here is a before...
and after...
I love how it looks and it feels great to shift as well. Just got to remember to put my ring on my other hand before i drive it and not to park in the sun.

When I fitted the HKS Oil Cooler, it required the removal of the factory water bottle for the intercooler spray. I thought i should put it back in the car before the next track day to give me every chance of keeping power up in the heat.
I decided to mount it in the boot on the passenger side so I had to run the wiring and water line from the front of the car to the back.
It was a mission but I ended up with this...
I made sure the hose had enough slack so that I could fill the tank from a tap easily...

The camera mount I ordered from Resart arrived today, so I fitted it up...
Also fitted the clear cam cover I got ages ago but never fitted...

Time Attack Round 1 for 2009
It rained on and off all morning but I still managed a PB on the sprint track by nearly 1.5 seconds with a 1:01.00.
In the arvo on the clubman the weather was great but I still couldn't get a PB. Best was a 1:05.xx again.
Starting to think I drive better when I'm trying to take it easy.
Had an issue with the breaks too, i think i have either cracked the front left pad or gotten a rock stuck in there as the rotor has a big groove cut into it and there is a constant scraping noise when driving.

This stuff arrived from Marty and Jason @ Racer Industries (www.racerindustries.com.au)
Powervamp 35 Battery
Compared to stock battery
Pyrometer
Saebelt 3" 4 Point Harness
Mid January 2009
Oh yeah I forgot, these were waiting for me when I got back to work at the start of the year
I got them cause people never know what Shieldcoat does when they see the signs on my car.

This was waiting at work when I arrived this morning too. Always good to start the day off with new car parts I say.

Installed the Meek inlet pipe and the new battery. Also took a pic of how I mounted the EVC solenoid while the intake was out...
Meek vs Stock inlets
Installed
Bolted the battery jacket to the stock tray
Finished
Stock vs Powervamp 35
And here is where I put the EVC stuff - in the void where the water resovior for the intercooler spray sits

Time attack (www.timeattack.com.au) round 2 was on today. Only went for the arvo session cause I needed the sleep in this time. Was a bloody good day but I couldn't better my time of 1:01.00 on the sprint circuit from round one in the wet unfortunately. was about half a second off all day.
We also got a quick run on the National track in the arvo which i'm sure I would have set a PB on (have only ever done 5 laps before on first day out) but i'm yet to see the times.
I planned on fitting these Ralliart brake cooling air guides before the day but didn't get around to it.
And this arrived for me from Meek Automotive on the 23rd. The plan is to get this fitted along with my ARC air box and titanium UICP and when they finally arrive from Japan and then have nick put it on the dyno quickly to make sure everything is nice and safe. Can't really say i'm looking forward to fitting it but it can't be too hard i guess. Should all be sorted before the next time attack day on the 24th of March.
Heading to Lakeside Raceway on sunday as well, never been on another track so should be good fun. Will post up some pics from the day as well.

Went to Lakeside Park for the first time on the weekend. What an awesome track! Its all been resurfaced so it's really nice and smooth and very fast. PB for the day was 1:04.78. There was a new R35 GTR with an exhaust out there that was running 1:01.xx to give you an idea.
Had a ball, can't wait to get back out there.

After driving the car for a bit trying to use the EVC as my boost gauge I decided I needed a proper gauge. Mainly cause with the Defi's you can use the 2 minute playback function to monitor boost much more easily.
So I ordered one from CJ-Motor...
Now that I have three defi's I had to lose the A Pillar guage pod and go for this ATI pod from VisionR
And now for the best bit, CJ-Motor had these on special the other day so I just had to grab the last one. mmm FP Green

Woo Hoo!!!! I ordered a heap of stuff from Vision R in December and it finally arrived today. Fitted it all up when I got home and had it checked on the Dyno today to make sure AFR's are ok as I won't be getting the Green on and a re-tune for three weeks.
They were fine and she pulled 227kw atw on 21psi. Was surprised at that high a number although the guy did it in 3rd gear "to put less strain on the car compared to fourth" - whatever, i'm only concerned about what it makes with the green Anyway time for the pics...
ARC Air Box
ARC Oil Cap
ARC Titan Radiator Shroud
