I've always liked the chopped viii look so when I found one local I decided what the hell I'll try it myself

I bought 1/8" thick abs plastic sheets and cut one to fit the existing hole

I used a heat gun to mold it as best as possible

plastic welded it in place

fiberglass-ed the underside for support

bondo-ed the top

haven't decided if I'm going to sell it just yet...once the viii bumper is painted and fitted I'll have to make up my mind

I'll let you know when the time comes, might not even but the viii bumper on until after winter is over

I had my doubts in the beginning and it was really messy at times so unfortunately I didn't take any photos along the way which I regret

structurally it's strong...I twisted/flexed it and it didn't crack or even make a sound for that matter

I'll go back and edit the first post one day this week with a step by step of how I did it.

Hopefully I can get my hands on a cheap VIII bumper and give this a try.

biggest PITA was the time between steps

waiting for fiberglass/bondo to dry drove me nuts as it turned three days into ten doing a layer here and there when I could

Thats how I did it. Did you use the Flexible body filler? Bondo can crack fairly easy.

Ya I thought my first one would take like a 2 or 3 days make with doing the chop, putting primer on it, Prepping for paint and then painting it. No took at least twice as long as I thought
