Im sure the added weight wont make much of a difference for you rockman. As you said you dont like the grids, I dont like the 18" DPT in +35 as much as the 17". It seems like every picture I see with the 18"s installed the spokes look skinny and the tires are either stretched or just dont look meaty enough for my liking.

Go whichever route suits you best. Again these arent my favorite wheels. I kind of settled for the time being. I could not justify putting a big money package on my almost stock evo. When I did the math for the 18's and tires it was over $2000.00. For that Ill save and go Volk or better yet "used" volk. I spent closer to $1500. For some odd reason that 2k mark seems like so much more of a stretch than $1500.Maybe Im crazy Different strokes for different folks.

2k i dont know about that depends what brand tires you get etc to be honest. We shall see i may keep 17 as the stockers are 17 and look good i just dont want to rim to look small and i know ill give up some preformace if i get bigger wheels have to think about it but again im no buying right now as im all about finishing up this motor build once that is done then ill be hardcore in to getting some new shoes

Exactly my point! It takes a 285/35 on that wheel to get me the look I want. The cheapest decent tire I see on tirerack in these dimensions is $277.00 per tire!!! BCHAPPY that looks sick just wasnt in my budget and didnt need the super wide 265-285 tires. More money and more weight in all four corners. Maybe because I went with flat black the face of the wheel blends in with the tire so walls dont look too tall. On the takata green wheels your setup looks much nicer.

Here are some teasers since I cant get the car out of the garage for another day. Tires are dunlop star specs 255/40/17. Im on tanabe springs and the car hasnt quite settled in yet from being on jackstands for 2 weeks. So far I love the look.Light weight, bolt on fitment and near aggressive stance. Perfect for everyday or in my case weekends. Tomorrow its wash and tire shine time! Then Ill get some better photos for people searching for tarmac black/DPT pics with no luck.

I'd love to see some side shots. I think I prefer a 17" with kind of a wide tire.

there showing fine..
and I hear ya on cost and weight... plus i like the look of a slightly taller tire as well.
These are just my AX wheels and tires, I may try to get a set of 17'' race wheels for RTA to lower tire cost and weight as well with a small sacrifice in sidewall deflection.
