This seems to be the perfect setup in evo road racing cars, my buddy has a cage almost identical, and god damn does it stiffen the ride!

Are you just spot welding with a mig to make it look like a tig? That is def not a strong or proper way to weld. The cage work looks good, but I would go over the welds properly, or have somebody else come in and weld it up for ya.

I don't see where you are saying there are spot welds. All the pipes have been welded 360 degrees around the Mild Steel. Our mig machine is set up to properly penetrate the piping with no sacrifice in structural integrity. It is a mild steel cage not chromoly which means tig or mig can be used. If it were chromoly tig should be used.

That is a series of spot or tack or whatever you wanna call it layed over top of each other. you can see the dimple or "butthole" I call it in every puddle. I am not saying your not welding 360 deg around, I am saying your not welding it properly, regardless of the material used.

The cage work itself looks good. Props for that, I hate cage work.

I saw the same thing. If you are MIG welding why not run the full bead once it is tacked in place and not get a crater every 10th of an inch? Or just TIG weld it.

I understand the points you guys are trying to make but the penetration is there. Here are two pictures to show.

Here are some updates. Sorry for the long delay but we got busy as the race season is here. The car is back after Jeff's first race down in St. Louis. We are adding two more bars to the main hoop and it goes into the body shop for paint on Monday. The cage will be painted black which will add some nice contrasts to match the wheels, wing, seats and hood. Also while it is at the body shop it will be getting a new roof put on to get rid of the sunroof hole. I will update with more pictures after we get it back from the body shop.
