trading an evo for a genesis is like trading a Z06 for a mustang GT (new GT's are pretty BA).....or a STi for a mazda miata.....who does that?
im sure most of us didnt buy our evo's for fit and finish of the interior, we bought them for one thing-performance. the evo is a legendary car, holds numerous automotive performance records, and damn quick with basic boltons. with that said, there are only a few reasons to getting a different car. gas mileage, maintenance, interior, too racey, too much attention, not as civil for daily. some even argue the X is more civil than the 8 & 9s. also most 16 yr olds want an evo or sti, so some people like to move up to a classier car.
so with a genesis what advantages would you gain over and evo 8 or 9? i dont really see one.but you lose passenger space. lose traction with snow, rain, and power. less power, less modability.
i guess its a matter of preferences.

Why so mean? I was curious myself too. I'm pretty sure some people was curious too so why not save some peoples time and they can just read it on here.

And not to mention the entire car is hand laid carbon fiber and no interior.
I drive them on a daily basis. The shifters are sloppy and the throttle by wire is the slowest reaction between shifts on any car since the auto (stick shift transmissions) came out with the +- buttons on the steering wheel 10 years ago.
What it comes down to is hyundai entered a market they have never been in before. And most people have a hard time biting off a $27,000 price tag on a hyundai. They really had the right idea when they had a price strategy of $18-21,000...
IF they had made the motor as stout as the evoX and IF they ran a beefy transmission and IF the price was more tiburon style I believe the car would be a hit. Hyundai entered the USA with cars in the sub 10,000 range and were junk. They now have $70,000 cars and keeping the name tag hyundai only makes you think .

This!! Many times over!
The block in the Genesis is a VERY distant cousin to the 4b11t. It will not handle anywhere near the power. From what I've read on it (because I actually like the Genesis....but not for the price) is the crank is solid, but the rods and pistons might as well be made out of play-doh. It is also an open deck design IIRC.
Hyundai had a great idea with this car, but there are too many IF's that they didn't fulfill. I still like the car, but it simply does not compete with other cars in it's price range. The fit and finish that I've seen is actually pretty damn good. But performance potential would go to the Z for a similar amount of money.
Nice car regardless. I'm just disappointed because this car would be EVERYWHERE if they had addressed a few key issues!! It's a great looking car for sure!!

i like the Genesis and i think it will make for a fun car to go sideways and auto x. They look pretty sick too so no one can deny that.
now as for the idiots that own evos and talk them down, go get yourself an b7 S4 which has no ***** for a V8 and as for the M3 go get one and pay $3000 just for a catback. Evos are built for performance you morons, thats why everything is light and cheap. You want the car to weigh like a pig then im sure the luxury stuff can be added. Besides the paint being the bad deal on the evos everything else is build with a racing inspired purpose.

If your evo was stock....I would say your crazy for trading...but your evo was down right sexy. Why oh why would you do such a thing?!?!? I do know the feeling though I went through a new car every year until the evo. 04/26/10 was four years with my evo and I will keep her until she is dust. With that said the only person who has to like it is you, let us know what you end up doin to the new ride, good luck.

Pretty sure that Rhys' drift car is running the V8 up front and the Pikes Peak car is running a rear engine setup. Trying to compare either of those full on race cars to a stock 2.0 Genesis is simply irrelevant to any conversation (unless it is about the exterior looks of the car).
To the OP-Good luck with the new ride.

especially in california driving an evo is stressful enough.
The evo is also a huge money pit and after 5 years and all the stuff Alain had you can only amagine.

I dont think i would have traded the evo for one but it is true that they can look really good. Mod wise my buddy has one he races it all the time sadly its also in the shop all the time. Only time will tell for these cars but here is hopefully a little inspiration.
