Above are some pics of the race in chengdu April 2013... I raced both my civic and evo 9, my evo was very reliable but sad to say my civic couldn't take the punishment of the race as u can see in the last picture, heat is the enemy of this r18 turbo engine, I tuned my car to handle 1.5bar of boost but while I was racing I was only using around 1bar of boost as it was raining and the engine's head which is made of aluminum can't take the heat... Also the coils overheated and melted due to the hot air from the turbo, wastegate and header being very close.... Doesn't seem there is a solution to make this reliable so I guess now I have to go the k24 engine route to race.... This engine is not strong enough to take over 300fwhp on the track... Maybe 1/4 mile racing no problem but this engine can't handle a real race... Shame I had to learn the hard way.... Maybe just rebuild this engine back and use it for a daily driver instead.... And buy another civic and rebuild race k24 engine in it.... Power wise I had no problem in the civic division just it's not reliable enough for endurance racing !!!
