what if i buy one register it in fl then drive it around in LA and TX lol i could do that haa. but i understand just buying one then stripping it and putting it all on a mirage that way you ensure they can never take your car which is smart but for like the 15k-18k its going to cost me to do this i might as well get another in general which is my WHOLE ISSUE with this. I would not mind having a old school evo V or 6 as a DD but thats alot of work and dedication not to mention alot of up front money i would need form jump street. i would need like 6k+5K so 11k cash to get the evo V and get it imported. then i have to buy a cheap mirage and have the swap done which i could take my time on that part at least but still alot.

Why you don´t use Mirage as donor? We do it here quite often.
You need basically from Mirage only steering and front buckle head.
But Evo has sharper steering so it will not drive the same.

Why use Evo 5/6? USDM Evos without ACD are basically same under the bonnet but have larger weight. So with not that much mods you can keep with them easy. I have VI and it is not a problem to overrun same HP rated IX.
Not mentioning it looks much more hardcore

very interesting indeed, i know its been getting OT, but interesting reading and definately have not seen an imported evo run around 9k..... doesnt make sense to me cause i was looking for a pre VIII before purchasing mine.

as a side note, for a V or VI replica, does anyone know would it be any more difficult to just swap an 8 or 9 engine/drivetrain into a mirage chassis like this? also what is the most basic model of the mirage (assumption that they are cheaper and lighter)? maybe the year span of the model to choose.

@ OP: can we get more pics of the mirage? interior shots also?

To the above post, I can't confirm this, but I heard that to use an Evo 8 transmission, you have to use the Evo 4-6 transmission and transfercase. Everything else should fit though.

More updates

I got a good deal on a set of 17X7.5 Volk TE37 Wheels. It is the same as the EVO V wheel fitment with 225/45/17 tires.

The engine swap and drivetrain components comes last.

I need to finish the exterior, then move into the interior.

After that it's the hard part

I have the EVO V OEM Fenders, Side Skirts, and a set of Rear Arches on the way from the UK.

I will post pictures once I get it installed together with the EVO V Front bumper.

I will give you a price list for the parts.

I am going with an OEM EVO VI Wing and Trunk with garnish.

I might buy a TME front bumper, and swap out the V bumper every other month for a different taste.

Yes, the car will be repainted in Red when all the parts are installed.

Then I will move on to the interior conversion.
