My EvoII makes for a fine tow rig.

I'm after getting sick of hauling R-comps,jack,tool box,cooler......ect ect......inside the car to and from Solo2 events. So I finally got around to making a trailer hitch for it.....and I have to say......its a good tow rig!

Think about it,all the stuff that makes the Evo such a great performance car also makes it a great tow car......

Powerful turbo engine

Heavy duty clutch

Low(or is that high,I always mix them up)gear ratios

Stable all wheel drive system

Heavy duty cooling sytem, with an oil cooler

Strong brake system

If you didn't know it was an Evo,you'd think I was checking off the specs for a tow pickup.

Anyways, the little Evo makes for a fine tow rig,no trouble to haul a utility trailer full of race crap around. If it ever stops raining here I'll get a picture up.

Only thing missing from the check list that a tow pickup would have is low end torque

This sounds awesome. I wonder what the towing capacity of all generation Evo's is. My friend was wondering if he could safely launch a PWC with his 8 GSR.

Thanks.

As for your friend, think of it this way....its a four seat car with a trunk....stands to reason that you can carry four people plus suitcases in it.As long as the PWC/trailer doesn't weight too much more than three people....no problem.I wouldn't load the car up with three big people plus junk PLUS a PWC/trailer,but as long as he's reasonable should be no problem.

Weather permitting I'm going on a 2 hour drive on Sunday to pick up a Land Rover engine/transmission/transfer case plus some other bits.....the engine alone is 450LBS.....I'll report in on what she tows like.

Pics or it didn't... won't... won't have happened. Looking forward to know. Report on fuel economy drop if you can as well. Thanks!
