400 whp can be had without doing the internals... pretty easily i may add...

only thing you would be advised to do is the head studs cause you'll be running higher boost levels...

That is so tempting. Exterior I would do on black wingless evo:

Monster bumper and hood
j spec rear bumper
GT-A headlights/ evo 7 tails
18x9 sp LM
other goodies from arc, zeal, endless

I think in the latest Top Gear mag the Evo beats out the Elise and the Caterham as a track day car just because it provides almost as much thrills and you can use it as a daily.

Both, actually. However, the head studs should be changed to some ARP hardware because the 4G63 has been known to lift the head off the block under high compression (example: higher boost).

Changing the connecting rod bolts to studs should be done if you are looking at making over 400 crank HP, as well. If for nothing else, it's a saftey measure. I'd rather spend $40 on some studs rather than spend a grand on an engine rebuild.

but why go through the bother of replacing the con rod bolts without changing the rod too.and at that point, the piston. It's simply not worth thwe cost of labor to JUST go in and do rod bolts

Also, don't compare the UK dyno numbers to US numbers - they are ooften VERY different. Cars that have loads of mods in th U run very low dyno numbers compared to the numbers some here have obtained with minimal mods.

I was just saying........If your goal is 400 crank horsepower, or there about.......You should change the bottom end bolts out to studs, just to be safe. Stronger con rods aren't needed at that point, but the bolts could get weak over time.

Just an idea.

Leads to suspicions about the dynos' being used and how they are being used in the US by cetain people.
