air/fuel gauges
Not sure where to post this...but i am in the market for a good, performing a/f gauge. I hear that they are inconsistent unless under heavy throttle. Would i be better off to just get a knock meter and get an oil pressure gauge? I guess I am asking, what two gauges (besides an boost gauge) are the most beneficial to the monitoring of the Evo? Just whatever, i am looking at autometer stuff, so keep it cheap! Thanks

Lamda? (Air/Fuel ratio) I have never seen a Dial gauge that works very well - they just don't have the resolution to make a difference. you need an accurate digital gauge esp if you are playing with the fuel maps to lean it out. (the evo runs rich on boost to control detonation on crap gas)
My 2 cents - I have used a MoTeC lamda probe and read out - it's really spendy but accurate ($1000.00) but way cheaper than a new engine if you lean it out too much.
Look at http://www.motec.com/products/plm/plm.htm

would a system like a knock link be okay do you think? Basically, i could just tune it and adjust until the link alerts me. It has a sfatey shut off etc. and is only 200. 1000 is way too much i think. I dunno. I knew Evo ran rich, but why do they sell a/f gauges if they don't work?

AEM has their new wideband gauge coming, to integrate with their existing UEGo wideband 02...very nice
FJO sells one too, also with a digital gauge.
We have used the Greddy A/F meter before...its actually quite accurate (we measured an average different of .1 A/F point between it and my Horiba wideband
