Problem is most of the GPS units don't work up in Alaska, so I pretty much have to find one with just the best media features. As well as one that withstands the cold temperatures as well.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

So Kyoo I checked out the Smart Asteroid. It looks like the release date slipped some. The 2 things that concern with it are iPhone/iPod playback and how well iGo works. The main reason I'm going double din was for the GPS navigation.

I was looking to upgrade my wifes navigation. If this thing is all its cracked up to be I'll replace her OEM nav with my Pioneer and get one of these.

I do like the capacitive touch. It look smooth when the Parrot rep was demo'ing it. The biggest knock I have on Android devices (until recently) was that their touch capability was poor at best when compared to the iPhone. I'm looking for it to be at least as good.

The gestures are pretty cool and should make using it while driving easier.

definitely dropped the ball on following this thread.

yeah that's the thing with asteroid - they also had a version a year before the smart almost ready to go ( i think it was just called the asteroid parrot 2din or something ) and lord knows what happened with that.

I'm legitimately considering doing some kind of tablet hook up with the car, if power and sound hookup were easier. if you have one of those shared data plans it would only be 10 dollars a month to send data to the tablet and navigation doesn't take a lot of data at all. its kind of strange to me how expensive these in dashes continue to be given the market... still waiting for the market to grow...

that aside, i've had a kenwood and two pioneers - i'm tired of the windows 95 graphics and interface they shovel with these products. parrot seems like the only legitimate android player for now.. dont these bigger companies get that switching to android would probably give them a huge edge in this market?? all i want is a dvd/gps nav with google maps. audi started offering this on their cars, hope that spreads to all cars.

keep bumping the thread guys, i'd love to see more ct9as rocking this setup

Whats the new release date now?

I have the Kenwood AVIC 140BT. It "looked" pretty good graphics wise when I saw the demo.

I probably won't have my car back until close to Christmas. I have no problem installing the Kenwood for now until the Parrot comes out and then switching to it giving my wife my Kenwood.
