how to get melted plastic off a muffler?

HOw do you all clean / polish your aftermarket exhuasts?

I have an HKS hi-power and the bumper plastic has melted on the muffler tip, and i wanted to see if anyone knew how to get this off without scraping off the top layer of the muffler.

nope, USDM with the o2bung. Its not the part of the bumper that is close to the top of the muffler tip, its the inner left side of the bumper (towards the back part of the bumper) closer to the center of the car.

remove the muffler, and use a bench grinder with a buffing wheel attachment, along with the proper polishing stick to remove the plastic. It will probablly be long and tedious, but it will retain the meticulous shine on the muffler.

IF NOT-
Instead of heating it, let it get REALLY cold, and try to chip it off with something that will not affect the finish of the muffler. This is going to be a real pain in the *** for you. On my last car, i ran over one of those plastic Stop & Shop bags, and it stuck to my exhuast... Im sure the new owner still has that **** on there!
