Yes it is. I have known about the Evo VII GTA for a while. They tested it in a couple of UK mags. It is designed for people who want Evo performance in traffic-heavy areas. Given that Malaysia is packed, that would qualify (as would most Asian cities). The floormats are nasty, but that has been explained. If you look carefully, you'll see the Ralliart cluster, ACD button, 4G63 (w/EVOLUTION valve cover), etc. It IS an Evo, just not one we're used to. I am guessing that the Evo VIII lights are a makeover to keep the Evo VII GTA looking current. Check out the FMIC, too. Must be an O-Z Lancer in drag, huh?

I think they're putting out about 260hp. A little less than ours - sort of the "comfy" Evo.

yellowfever,

no worries dude~! we all are here to learn a thing or two from each other.... what i would love to learn is about dismantling my headlight clusters!!! arrrgh!!!

if you're interested to know more bout the GTA, you can check it here too, http://www.j-garage.com/mitsubishi/lancer/evo7GTA/

Chris,

it shares the same engine with Airtrek Turbo (SUV). 250hp on engine, a smaller turbine, lower boost, INVECS-II tiptronic tranny, and lots more. Its a downtuned evo manual engine, guess it has to cater for the auto tranny as it may not withstand such high powered engines.

I've always said the GT-A was fantastic. And it's not a boring automatic, it has a special transmission so you can still manually change gears but you lose the HP due to it.

I love the GT-A, especially the badge and the straight lines. It's the only Evo that makes the regular Lancer wing look good. I love how the hood is also clean (lol you noticed the clutch but not the fact that there was no air-intake in the hood?) so with some mods or maybe a regular Evo tranny, it would be the perfect sleeper car.
