Here's a pic of the new turbo I just got. PTE SC6262SP, journal bearing, t3 frame, .63 ar 4 bolt discharge.

I just bought a .82ar t3 vband housing today and will be selling the .63ar setup soon.

I was wanting to use the Evo 5 subframe and relocate the steering rack brackets to work with a LHD rack. Didn't quite work out.

Here the RHD subframe. Hacked off the original brackets and welded/ground down the cuts.

The rhd subframe idea didn't quite work out since the brackets needed a lot of modification to work. So I ended up using my LHD subframe and notching it to clear the tcase

A shot of the Comp Clutch 6 puck before the trans got mated. I don't think it's going to last long but at this point, I'd rather have the clutch be the weak link until I can get a built trans and tcase.

With the help of my friend Lenny, we got the swap in yesterday morning and installed the engine in his FD yesterday afternoon.

And last update for today, got the turbo manifold installed. It was a ***** getting to a few of the nuts.

I thought I was done for the day but decided to work on the engine harness. I HATE WIRING!! I modified the RHD harness for LHD. Amazingly, once the harness was cut open, most of the wiring reached from the opposite side without having to extend it. I extended a total of 5 wires and that's it. Majority of the work was untangling the harness and figuring out how I wanted everything routed.

Only thing left is to add 3 wires to the harness so I can run a map sensor/speed density setup and to figure out a couple of AC wires that are different from the Evo's digital climate control and the Mirage (Evo RS) mechanical AC control unit. After that I'll give it a 2nd test fit and wrap it all up nicely.

so are/have you sourced an EVO rack and pinion or are you still using a mirage one? i think without a doubt, you NEED an evo rack otherwise youll lose the whole feel of it.. EVOs have the nicest steering feel of any car ive driven.

I haven't sourced a Evo LHD rack yet. From what I'm told, they're about $2k used and I'll have to buy one from one of the Rally teams or possibly Dave @ Ears. I'll probably keep the Mirage rack until I can come up with the cash for a rack. $2k is a little hard to stomach considering that the RHD racks can be had for $100-$150 all day long.

The second option is a steering quickener, but I've never used one and don't know if it's a decent option or not.

Got the engine all wired up for the most part. Converted the harness to LHD and tucked a majority of it under the intake manifold. Repinned the harness so it should work with my evo8 ecu and pass all obd2 emissions testing. Also added the map sensor wires and iat sensor wires for the speed density conversion..

Got the 6262 bolted up and the JMF cam sensor heatshield that showed up last week.
