Sorry 3bar,
I tried to find them on the net but they must have gone out of business (I am talking about the late 80's/early 90's)
I did find quick racks for classic rally cars for sale though so there must be a company selling conversion parts somewhere.
A quick rack is an essential if you are going to be throwing it around, much easier to catch a slide with one!
On my old rally car (1989 vauxhall nova/Opel corsa) I fitted a rally cross rack which was 1 3/4 turns lock to lock!
I could go almost lock to lock without taking my hands off the wheel!(it wasn't fun to park though)
I believe the Evo vi tme rs had a 2.2 turn rack so it may be possible to get these parts from Mitsubishi, essentially though it's just a slightly smaller pinion so it shouldn't be too hard to have one made.
I have to replace the steering gaiters on mine so I might whip it apart and have a look!
Speak to you soon,
Mick

Updates for the past week.

Got the quarter panels cut and used a piece of 1.25" x 1/8" flat steel. Curved, welded, and sealed up. The used rubberized undercoating so it just looks like an extension of the wheel well.

Finally got the cleaned up, polished and waxed. Got the rear emblems put on, finished installing the rear wheel arches, and the car registered this past weekend.

Haha I've had 2 2.5rsti's. first had an sti long block with a wrx ecu and fp green turbo setup. My second rsti had a sti long block with sti ecu (Avcs), rotated gt30r, with a speed density conversion on 24psi. They're amazingly fun cars and would totally own another one. I was just wanting to do something completely different this time around.

Same with the Evo 4-6, the RS model didn't come with a rear wiper. My car is kind of a mix between a GSR and RS. No abs, non digital climate control, no power mirrors and no AYC just like the RS. But like a GSR, mine has recaros, brembos, power windows/locks, and foglights HAHAHAHA

Thanks man. The car originally came with manual doors and I thought about leaving them, but like you said there are some things you can't live without

so in all how much would you guessitmate you spent on parts? as i just picked up a 4dr mirage couple nights ago and will do the same. i was looking around online for pricing for front clips w/ other parts but no pricing. it just says call for pricing. i will do the rhd swap though.

Probably in the neighborhood of 14-15k. The front clip is about $6500 shipped with the doors, rear end, amd body panels. The side skirts, floor pan and fuel tank were another $1800 shipped. Those are the biggest expenses. Add coilovers, wheels, seats and it adds up. If you plan on keeping it relatively stock you can probably get away with spending around 10k.

I changed the rear end to a USDM evo8 setup which wasn't necessary for a stock car but I'm planning on making some power. The full 6262 turbo setup was another unnecessary expense if you're just wanting a stock running evo5 conversion. I probably have another 5k in upgrades from a stock evo5 build. However, since I bought a white mirage and a white front clip I saved a lot of money not having to get paint work done. Since you're going rhd, you'll need a full respray with the firewall swap.

As far as updates go, I had to pull the tcase. My RS front LSD had the dreaded diff bolt issue. All 4 of my diff bolts sheared off and was causing a clunking on right turns. I also have a severe vibration issue I'm trying to fix. I'm hoping this will fix both problems. Just got the tcase reinstalled 2 nights ago ad the rest of the front suspension back on last night. Gonna full up the fluids tomorrow and try to take it out for a cruise. I also plan on redoing my rear driveshaft bracket with one from an evo8.
