Another gauge in the ashtray thread
Inspired by 4-BNGR's post here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=53207 I decided to fabricate one of my own. I'm using a 52mm VDO gauge and wanted it to be angled toward the driver. So, I took a trip to Lowes only to discover that 1.5" PVC is too small and 2" PVC is too big. Fortunately, I found that the inside of a 2" plug is perfect. The only problem is that it is only a couple of inches long. Still it works pretty well, here's a pic of the test fitting. I still need to get some black paint and work on how I'm going to attach it more permanently (it's currently just duct-taped to the back of the center console.)
I started with 4-BNGR's design but eventually discarded the "slot" so that I could get it to sit flush. My current thought is that I can cut another piece of the plastic and glue it behine the face piece and attach that to the console. I'm also planning on putting another gauge (other than boost) in the ashtray position because it's too far down to be monitored closely.
