Painting spoiler, s. paper grit?

I'm going to paint the center section of my spoiler black. It's ruined way past the clear coat so re-clearing it is not an option. So basically I need to sand down through the carbon fiber. What sandpaper grit do you guys recommend using? Should I use 2 different grits?

400 or 600 then shoot the paint and clear. After clear dries if it has orange peel and is not as smooth wet sand it with 1200 or more and buff it.

You don't have to only reason for wet sand is so the paper don't get clogged up as much.

I'm not a fan of any sort of vinyl. It's too fake for me lol
