hmmm, you don't know you're FD's. While more susceptible to damage from detonation, they are very reliable with proper tuning and cooling mods.

lolrof, I had one, look in the paper and see how many have "rebuilt motors". Also how may do you see with over 100k miles?

I had several...and I've seen many with over 100k... all comes down to knowledge and how you take care of it. I've seen alot of people take the cat out and let the motor succumb to boost creep, I've seen people boost over 12psi without adding fuel... There are any number of reasons a fool can destroy his car...I'm not saying the 3rd gen isn't a sensitive car, but it can be very reliable if the nut behind the wheel is sensible about what they are doing.

All I know is I had one back in 1996 when they were still new and everyone blew it up. Maybe you had a superduper one I dono. I can say my NSX never had any problems in the 6 years I had it.

They're quirky high maintenance cars, I'll give you that. But...my point was that they are baddazz cars...2800lbs with 320 hp at the wheel with very few mods on 12psi. Can you beat on one like you can an Evo? Hell no....I agree 100% that the Evo will withstand more abuse...

As fars as the NSX goes, it's a very sweet car...but needs 100hp to make it interesting

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
That is a good one. As the previous owner of one of these road grenades(and a former worker at a RX-7 shop) I can attest to both the beauty and the majesty of the RX-7 when it runs right, and also the shoddily engineered money pit that they are the other 350 days of the year when the are not running. My own pile went through 3 motors in 75,000 miles. Very reliable indeed. But the scariest thing of all is I am looking at buying another one!! Of course I will be buying one with a blown motor( guess how hard that is to find?)

Brett.

That's crazy...3 motors in 75,000 miles??? Who did your rebiulds? Did you use 3mm seals? How much boost were you running? That seems excessive no matter what...

lol, i just laid down at teh gas station

and RX7 are road bombs. if you take care of them perfectly then they mgiht last you and be reliable, but if you take care of a piston engine perfectly it will last you forever.
