Writing in Dust - Damage?

My brother's black car was in the garage for a couple of days and it had some dust was on the roof and with my finger I took off a bunch of dust. He started going off like I completely scratched the car, he was totally freaking out about it.....I dont see how it can be different from just wiping it off with a towel, was tehre a problem with doing that?

Um... they will both scratch the paint... (I guess it depends on how hard you push your finger on it, but it would be better to use like a california duster or something)

I freak out when my daugter tries to do this.. she's only 3 so I don't get to mad...

Dust wont scratch it.. Sand will.. if it was inside... its most likely dust ( as in particles of smoke and other light micro particles)... if it was outside.. then its another matter...

Dust= mircoparticles that percipitate out of the air. It could be sand, dirt, carbon, mites etc.... Microparticles, whatever they are made from are very fine abrasives. If you rub an abrasive onto another surface, it will polish/scratch that surface.

wiping dust with your finger will scratch the surface...try writing your name on it...when you wash the car, look at the finish in the sun...you will see your art work...especially since it's black...i understand where your brother is coming from...it can be buffed out though...
