Talking Darkn3s: DIY red tails (Evo 7 Style)

Once again my buddy came to me to see if i could do anything about his ugly Evo 8 chrome tails. So figured id try out the evo 7 DIY on his. By all means i dont claim to be the best at this, so be nice lol

lightly wet sanded the lens with 1000 grit sandpaper

taped up the turn signal sections the best i could using pin strip tape

Something to keep in mind next time is that each stripe has the taipered ends like the first one, but the color on these is very nice!

i tried to do that but with the pin strip tape i was using made it really tough. to cut those curves and such.. do they make painters tape in that thickness?

Looks great! That's definitely something I'd do if the IX was cursed with the chrome tails.

Looks awesome! I think you just helped me make the decision to do mine.

What tape did you use? What clear? And did you have to buff them or anything after?

Looks great! I'm still planning to pick up a set of stock 8 chromies and doing this for a different setup, for a while. hahha

did about 3 coats of the RED and lost count of how many i did of the clear.. I was paranoid of dripping so did like 10 light coats of clear and applied a heat gun to it after every coat

thanks man- i used some RED pin stripe tape that they sold in advanced auto over by the vinyl/sticker section. I wet sanded it with like 1000 grit just to get it smooth before the clear... but after that no i didnt have to buff it

yea really a good cheap mod to do if you have some 8s lying around.. really changes the look up some
