Props for doing something different.
Sorry for the terrible quality, it was raining outside when I took this--but this should give everyone an idea of how a regular 8 nose chop differs from an evo 9 bumper upper portion. It's about 1.5" difference.

That inch and a half resesses the mitsubishi emblem, making it look a little strange.

I hope this helps OP, I can tell you are getting frustrated with everyone just saying it's an "evo 8 nose chop" lol

there's doing what everyone else does, and then there's doing something slightly different that most people wouldn't pick up on. I like this a lot. I need my front bumper repaired over the winter so I may have to go this route

That's actually a really good idea which I honestly didn't think of. You have the best looking Evo 9 I've ever seen

At the same time, I do like the bigger hole for the IC in the Evo 8 bumper. But after seeing yours, I don't know why more Evo 9's don't do that

I'd rather just have something that looks OEM but 10x cleaner than OEM abortions.

Minus the goofy air intake this bumper is by far my favorite....

This is a Evo 8 Nose Chop my personal car.
i can tell the diffrence the IX grill does look cleaner but each of you has a point, if your into details then go the OPs route if your going for accomplishing the goal of getting rid of the VIII's nose then get a chop. Also Chris's X looks great in this pic!

I actually prefer how the 8 nose chop is longer. makes it look more aggressive imo

Any chance you could post a pic with lines showing where the two sections were welded? I have read the thread and examined the pics and can't quite tell where the two sections were joined...which might be a good testament to the skills of the fabricator who did the job.
