i think i will try this. i hate that 1/4" gap that this and all momo knobs leave between the boot and shifter.

Yeah, first you gotta pop the console off, then take out that washer from underneath. It's zip tied to the boot, so just cut it.
Then use the thin rubber boot, and push the knob. It will *literally* go ALL THE WAY DOWN. Basically, it will go down until the shifter hits the top of the knob. Then just tighten, and you are good to go.
The best part about this mod is that the gap is gone, PLUS, the knob will never wiggle again, and the shifter is now shorter than stock (whereas it used to be higher since the knob was taller).

The ring is part of the console, and boot is attached to that, so don't worry about it. To get the console off, just take out the ash tray and pop it off. There *might* be a screw underneath the ash tray, so take a look there.

Nice shift knob. But it kinda reminds me of a karaoke mic.
I like it though, but I think I prefer the one with the leather. The aluminized one on my car gets too cold and it is a bit small. Not a big deal, but makes it a bit harder to grasp during speed shifting. I think I would go for the black momo one above... but not too sure about spending that much money for it though.

will these hand brakes fit on the evo? I'd love to pick up one of these and like a matching momo shift knob.

I just got this one today:
It totally matches the steering wheel, you can't see it well in this pic, but the little "grooveholes" on the top are just like the ones around the horn on the steering wheel. I will take pics when I get time. Definately going to remove the console and put it down as far as I can as well.
