Alpine headunit, install kit?

What's needed to install an Alpine headunit into an Evo?

What kinda mounting/install kit do I get?

And where can I get it?

Go to Circuit City and buy two wiring harnes's for $18 each and you only plug the wires in. One Harness connect to the stock radio wiring and the other to ALPINE. Is is very easy to intstall.

i haven't installed any aftermarket radios in any lancers yet, and in some cases you will also need a dashboard kit, but i dont know if its required with the lancers. In general though, you usually need a wiring harness (that CONNECTS to the OEM wiring harness), which you can purchase at any car audio dealer, and you tap/splice/butt the wires to the alpine wiring harness which connects to the radio. just match the colors: power, speakers, antenna, etc. and you are good to go!

i just put an alpine in my evo, and all you have to do is take the brackets off the side of the stock radio and put them on the sides of the alpine.

Don't forget to redrill the mounting holes on the side of the mouting brackets so you don't have a gap around the radio and you can put your trim ring on. For example, look at one of the mounting holes and about a 1/4 inch away you will see a little dimple/rivet. Drill a hole inbetween that dimple and the orginal hole. Do this for the other three mounting holes. Now make sure you grind down the dimples on the inside of the moutning brackets before putting them on. That way they mount on the radio straight. Now put them on and put the radio in. The radio should stick out of the dash just enough to pop on that trim ring. Now you will have no unsigtly gap around the radio!
