Pics of Koyo radiator, Kartboy shift bushing and update on my rims

*Prepare for a bunch of pics*

Well if you saw my last thread about my powdercoated rims, I decided to try and paint them today. I started with rough sandpaper, then went to 220/400/600 wet sanding to get a smooth finish. Cleaned them off and used 3 coats of "universal gold" engine enamel. I only did one rim to see how it would turn out. The shade of gold is a little darker than I wanted so I might try to look for a lighter shade of gold:

Some pics of my Kartboy shifter bushing:

I weighed the stock radiator at 8lbs and the Koyo radiator at 11lbs:

Cool, but I don't think I'll ever get an aftermarket radiator. Looks like Mitsubishi did a pretty good job of filling the available space. Doesn't look to me like you gained much cooling volume. Looks trick anyway...

Mitsubishi did do a pretty good job with the cooling, but the Koyo radiator is much larger than the stock radiator. You have to see it in person to realize the volume gains. The endtanks on the Koyo radiator is 2.5" thick and the fin part is 2" thick. If I remember correctly, the stock radiator endtank is 2.25" thick and fin part is 1.25" thick. Also the construction of endtanks on the Koyo radiator maximizes the space availible. Not to the mention, the aluminum construction dissipates heat a lot better than the plastic used in the stock radiator.

I ordered it from www.evostore.com They had a sale on the forums just last week, $380 shipped. I'm not sure if they are still selling at the price though.

Is that an aluminum catch can mounted behind your battery?

What are the advantages of the new radiator? I ask because my Evo is driven in 110+ degree heat and the temp needle is about in the middle and never rises even under boost. I was thinking about an upgrade along with a bigger IC which I know will help.

Everything looks great. Wheels look much better.

Thats the ARC oil catch can. You will need to run a smaller battery or relocate the battery in order for it to fit (in the RHD cars, the brakefluid resevoir would be on the other side). I believe ARC is making another version of the oil catch can for the US market.

Well for normal driving, a bigger radiator probably won't do much. If anything, your car will run a little cooler in normal driving, although the stock non-numerical temp gauge probably won't reflect it. However, I road race my car and running a larger radiator will hold more fluid and aluminum will cool faster. The most noticeable gains will be at the track with 25 minutes sessions where I am WOT for almost 50% of the time in summer heat. Plus if you start to make more power, an upgraded radiator will cope with the additional heat.

Good job, bro. It turn out good after painting them. You dont have to powdercoat them. Those are awesome parts. Keep it up. Looking forward of seeing your car to the SoCalEvo meet this August 1st.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I have a little update on my rims. I couldn't stand that shade of gold. At certain lighting, it looked alright but it looked to dark for me. I went out and bought a different gold and I think it looks better. However the lacquer gold is a little harder to make it feel/look smooth than the engine enamel. What does everyone think? Should I go with the first gold or second gold?
