and then you look at ur sig... if you weren't tryinna be a race car then you'da stopped a while ago. why don't you tell us all why you mod yer car cuz seriously... we're all so interested.

you think race cars get to their feather weight by removing 200 pounds at a time? no they don't... they get to their feather weight by removing 5 pounds at a time, a patch harness here, some wires shortened there, some bolt ends cut off, some bars replaced with something lighter, some lighter material here, some less material there. you know what 5 pounds of bolt ends looks like? if you could save 5 pounds off the highest part of the car over the heaviest section (hood) wouldn't you do it? stop being a hater. there is form and function in all of this. don't be so sore that you can't see it.

no it's not... that's the place that sparco evo went to get these lids made... it's gurney's race shop/store/whatever.

look under their specialty engineering you'll notice that they have a composite dept and the picture that goes along with that is a huge vac oven.

Ok, so it is a one-off custom piece. Anyone actually manufacture in volume and sell the dry carbon hoods or trunks?

Not a vacuum oven, an auto clave. It puts things under pressure to squeeze out excess resin and get a better fiber to resin ratio.

they had a sort of buy it now button thing when the sparco evo first came out with the awesome pieces... problem is prolly that NO ONE bought one or any... so they have hence removed it. in fact that's the only piece they ever advertised... they've never advertised anything else i don't think.

so... way to go evos for wanting REAL good stuff.... i'm sure everyone would "rather" buy a cf hood that weighs the same as stock for half the price... cuz that's what evo owners do... spend money on stuff that does nothing.

one option i'm not sure you guys are aware of now is robi's wet lay cf hoods and trunks... he has them strip the extra resin off to get a better weight. only a pound heavier than the all american racing units but they're cheaper! they're also not as strong... but they hold the air up which is most important.

^ Me too. I've always liked the look of having the sides painted and the center CF.

Speaking of weight savings, imagine how much you could save if you stripped all the paint off the car. That's gotta be over 10 pounds.
