spacers are usually to clear brakes and/or suspension pieces. your tire won't effect that too much. that mostly depends on your wheel.

offset has a lot to do with rubbing on your fenders. your offset should not have any fender rubbing issues.

in general, you can run any tire you want and be fine, unless you have a crazy offset or your car is super low.

i simply recommend a 245 tire because it works better. i'm into performance, not bragging rights about how wide my tire is. if you don't care how the car handles, you can fit pretty much any tire you like. again: unless you have a crazy offset or your car is super low.

test fitting the wheel and looking at clearances is your best bet.

Enkei rpf1 18x8.5 +40 offset. Will this work on my 06 mr with swift springs without spacers? I was planning on 255-35-18 tires.

I'd recommend not running that wide of a tire on that width wheel.

Help Please!

Just wondering if 18x10 +18 Work Emotion XD9 wheels will clear the stock brakes? And what is a good tire size that will go with it?

here is a pic of my car. Espelir springs, stock Bilsteins, Advan RS-D 18x10 +22. 255/35 tires. i rolled the HELL out of the fenders, though it looks like i may not have needed to. not only that, but i don't think it would help if i lowered the car more than it is now.

in these pictures, i jacked up the front of the car to compress the rear. i won't be lowered on coilovers any time soon unless i buy a widebody kit. LOL

No way, jose. I've experimented with sizes. Anything wider results in a spongy steering feel. I love the 255s!

nice looking wheels. until you go lower your right doesnt look like you need any fender work. what kind of camber are you running if any?

and i have to respectfully disagree. IMO the idea of running a wide wheel such as this is to maximize traction and allow a wider tire to be run. you are right that some stretch is good for a stiff sidewall, but i think a 265ish size tire would be better.

that being said, it is your car and if your happy with it thats all that matters! have you had a chance to run a 255 or wider on the same wheel for comparison? I would be interested in hearing first hand experience. I am running 265 Z1s on 9.5 wide wheels, sit perfect with no wheel exposed and stupid grip.

nice pics, enjoy!

looks like my thread was merged with this one. since i can't have my own thread, i'll post my info here:

i'm not sure if going lower will do me any good. i do track days and how the car looks on the street is secondary. i can deal with the gap between tire and fender, though i wish the front had less.
i will be running 1.5* in front and OEM specs in the rear. i would like camber for track days, but i also DD this thing, so i don't want it ridiculous. right now i'm running spec camber front/rear due to my camber/caster plates are still in the process of being made.
as for wheel/tire combo: 10" wasn't my first choice. i bought the wheels used and that's just how they came. i also bought the 255s because i had worries about a 265 fitting. then there were issues with finding tires i wanted in a 265. i now see that a 265 will fit NO problem. i'll actually probably be trying that size next. as long as the sidewalls aren't TOO square, i'm cool with it. i should probably edit my post.
i've run a 255 on the stock BBS wheels and a 245 on a 9" SSR wheel. the SSRs had a stretch to them and i L O V E D it. the BBSs where very spongy and unresponsive.
i'll try the 265s next and see how they feel. seeing how there is no way my wheels are needing to tuck under the fenders, i should be good to go.

i never, ever get near curbs, so not too worried about protecting the wheels. LOL. plus, these wheels came with curb rash, much to my surprise when opening the boxes. SURPRISE!
thanks for the reply!

Well, look at it this way: your wheels are .5" narrower than mine, but offset 7mm more, which should end up about where mine are. As long as you don't go too low, you should be okay.

I am going to buy some Yokohama´s A048R in 245/40/17 to fit the OEM evo8 wheels (17x8 et38).

Will these tyres rub?

I have my car lowered with coilovers and I dont have the fenders rolled.

I have a question for everyone who might be able to help me out. I am looking to buy some Rota Grids. I want an aggressive wheel, but do not want to add wheel spacers or roll my fenders. My car is lowered on Eibach's which is only an inch drop. I dont want to buy special lug nuts, no spacers, no fender rolling. Any help?

Depending on the style of wheel you chooses, spacers maybe needed to clear the brembo especially when you are going wide with a lower offset.
