Just ordered a set of Toyo Proxes 4

I hated mine - they were very "squeely" making a lot of noise when driving through corners at the limit, and in the summer time (hot weather) I ripped off a couple of tread blocks on the track. Also, high speed stability (100+) was poor in the straight. I understand these are all season, but Toyo still claims they are "Ultra High Performance", which they are not. For getting your groceries in the winter they work fine, for performance driving they are worthless.

Well i won't be performance driving for the next few months as it is getting colder and crappy weather is on its way. Come spring I'll put the advans back on. i'll post a feedback once i get them installed and broken in. Toyo claims they are ultra high performance all season tires, which tells me they are not track worthy, but a good safe all season tire that is cabable of spirited street driving and will get me through a winter.

Just curious, but what happens to the speedometer if i got a 40 series tire instead of a 45 series? Also, would performance be much different?

these tires are great .... they don't handle as well as the advans on curves but still they handle better than other all season tires I've driven ... the Toyo brand is a fast growing brand in Hong Kong and Japan ... very popular ... good choice !
Have yet to drive these on snow tho ... really interested to see how these perform ...

Well I got them installed yesterday and I'm very pleased with them so far. Haven't really had a chance to throw them around in the dry yet, but yesterday during an all day rain, the the car handled great. Steering didn't lose much response and the car hasn't given me that feeling of it floating like typical all season tires do with soft side walls. The side walls on these toyos are actually fairly stiff (Z Rated), but not as stiff as the advans. They cut through standing water very well, maintain grip and actually just feels like a good fit for the car. If I hadn't been consciously thinking about the tires on the car, I wouldn't have even felt much of a difference compared to the Advans yesterday. One difference I can say that was very obvious is the tires are ALOT quieter than the Advans. I didn't even realize how loud the Advans were until I got the Toyo's installed. Looks like I found a good tire that will get me through next few months of cold and crappy weather. Advans will be going back on in the spring time.

I could have used that 22 dollars savings and almost filled my gas tank. Oh well. Mind sharing where you found them for that price?

As a compromise tire, the Proxes 4s kick ***. I'm interested to see how drivable the Evo will be in the snow. I have a feeling this will be a year in which Northern Virginia gets some serious snow. The Advans were terrible in the snow (duh) but at least with AWD the car could be moved. With the Proxes 4s I hope I won't have any hesitation hitting the roads when necessary. As far as a track or performance tire goes, that's what the R-1s are for.

Well everyone has their own expectations and driving habits on this board. I got the TOYO's because they are the best compromise between dry and wet conditions and they are Z rated. We don't get much snow here in Northern VA and if we do it usually melts in a few days, so for all the dry days, the toyos perform great and have great steering response and traction. For the days of snow, they are M/S rated and i'm not looking to race in the snow, but just want to get to and from work safely driving at normal speeds with everyone else. Last year I kept the Advans on my car and it was a SEVERE problem and potentially life threatening.

yeah, I'm just really unsure of what to get as the winters in cincinnati can be very unpredictable. sometimes we get lots of snow and other years we get nothing. it's almost always cold 35 degrees or lower for about 3 months. Still deciding between snow or all season.

Just had these installed myself.
First thing I noticed was, like the comment above, they weren't as crisp as the Advans, but I had
read that nothing out there was going to hold like the Advans, especially all seasons.
So far they are great.
