found 16x6 rims to clear Brembos

After going to the SEMA and PRI shows and talking to more wheel manufactures than I can remember, my efforts have paid off. I have one who makes a rim now that will work in a 6.5" width. Also have a custom wheel in a 6" width but, the cost is a bit more than even the AP gravel spec group A calipers/discs that would clear and work about the same as the stock Brembos. Two other manufactures are working on it. I'll hear back from them next week. If you're looking for a cheaper package with steal rims, this ain't it. Not only does a steal rim only have about 13.5" I.D. clearance(we need about 14.250"), but the angle from the hub mounting surface to the rim would never clear the sides of our calipers.

Right now as it stands this package of 16x6.5 rims & ws-50 215/60-16 tires would set you back about $600.00 more than tire racks package(these wheels are about $360). That's the down side.

The up side is:

1) 16" snow tires are $100.00 a piece cheaper( for a Blizzak).
2) more variety in sizes
3) 215/60 well give you .5" more ground clearance. 205/60 is $5 a tire cheaper, .3" smaller diameter.
4) unbelievabley better performance in the snow. How many WRC cars you seen in the snow with a fat tires? 235/45-17 has a tread width of 8.2" versus 6.5" for a 215/60

For the pessimists: Load rating on a ws-50 215/60-16 is 156 lb a tire higher than Tire racks option of a 215/50-17.

If there's enough interest, maybe we can get the price down.

I have been looking for a set of 17 x 6.5 or 7 that could clear, but if given the chance, I would rock 16s for sure during winters here in WI.

Who is the manufacturer of these 16x6.5 wheels?

Would it be impossible to get/find a 15" wheel to fit a 2005 Evo 8 MR for winter & rally cross driving? Does anyone know what size/combo Mitsubishi runs for the WRC Rally Sweden or similar events?

Are you talking about "steal" rims or "STEEL" rims?

I'd like to order a set of the 16x6.5 wheels.. The bolt pattern and offset are shared with another car that I own that I can put snows on.. but I want a set to test fit first..

to get a 15" to fit up front you'd have to change the disc size. Supposedly, from the rally guys I've talked to a 15" will fit in the rear.

Found two other rims, a TSW(16x6.5) and a Fondmetal(16x7) that the manufacture sites claim they fit. Trying to find one in stock somewhere for a test fit. TSW couldn't be more than $150 a piece I would think.

Finding a 17x6 is neer impossible. 17x7 that fits is out there. Compomotive has 17x7 and 16x 5/5.5/6 in are offset. These are strong rally rims so there $375 for a 17. $320 I think for the 16. Trying to find a 16x6 is near non-existant. Seems no one wants to make a 16" in less than a 7".

Steel rim is completely out of the ? The design factors don't allow clearance on the front side of the caliper.

Question

How about some 16x7's or 16x8's so we can use Hoosiers?
