Enkei RP03 with BFG KDW2

I'm thinking about purchasing these for my Evo. The goal is to fit as wide a tire possible with as little rubbing as possible. I have a JIC coilover suspension and plan to roll the fenders. Tell me what you guys think?

Enkei RP03 18X9.................$314/wheel
BFG KDW2 in 265/35/18......$207/tire
$2084

17x8.5.................................$272
BFG KDW2 in 255/40YR17...$160
$1728

wheels and tires

Why would you go with the 18" instead of the 17"? I don't see any advantage. Just a thought.

The 18" wheel has the option of tires wider than 255 series, other than that just another option.

My friend runs a 17x9 5Zigen wheel with 275/40/17 Hoosiers with both JIC and Ohlins (depending on track) coilover suspension on his EVO RS for auto-x races. He has the rear fenders rolled, front is left alone. The rear fits fine, the front rubs only on very tight turns when the suspension is compressed. That is what I will be running on my car this season also.

Go with the 18x9, they look much better than the little 17's, but stay with a 255 max unless you plan on rolling the fenders..

Is your friend from Showcase? I was told he was doing a 285...either way it is one wide tire! I also thought he was only running the Ohlins setup.

I'd worry whether those tires are exactly the same height, regardless of what some chart on the internet says or what the numbers would tell you. If they are different heights, it could cause issues with the center diff.

Not planning on doing a staggered setup, just presenting two different options.

Yep, that was Andy's race car (owner of Showcase) that was running the 275's. That is what he had last year. I don't know what he is running this year. Some talk of moving away from the Hoosiers unless they change their rubber compound in the A3S04s? I don't know. As far as shocks, I believe he started the season with the JICs, then switched to Ohlins, then put the JICs back on when he sold the car. Andy still has the Ohlins and I think that is what he is going to run on his car this year. I am trying to build a clone of his car, except with more power.
