Kumho V710's in 245/45/17 availability

I've been having a discussion in the motorsports section about autocrossing tires so this is a bit of a repost.

Neal, any firm dates on when the listed Kumho will be released? I know the web page says April, but is that date still good?

How durable are the V710's? I'd really like to be able to run a dozen or so events on a single set of tires.

My EVO is running stock suspension for now in the AS class.

The other option would be to go to STU and run some 245/40/17 Falken Azenis RT-615's.

Thanks,

Mark

They are on the water in transit here right now. ETA is 6-8 wks from today, so the April date looks pretty good. As long as they don't get held up at the docks or something I think we will be ok. The V710 is an excellent performer providing similar performance to the Hoosier. These will wear fast than the V700's but the performance is better. Longevity depends on what your doing with it. You can heat cycle the tire to prolong its life, but I don't think you will get 12 + runs out it.

I think you will be happy with the V710. The Evo really cries out for R tires. Falkens just won't cut it for me. Just keep an eye on the wear on the outside front shoulder. You should rotate the tires front to rear each event. Also think about flipping them on their rims after 35 runs.

My experience with V710s on my Type R is that they are longer lived than Hoosiers by a lot but not quite as long wearing as VictoRacers.

how about Kumho 275-40-17 for AS

Neal, I see that the 275-40's are in stock. Would you not suggest this size for the stock wheels, 17x8's on the MR?

TIA,

TIA,
See https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=115415 for more on this. If you go the 275 route, let us know how it works out. I plan on trying, but not for another month or so...

TIA,
That tire is built for wheels 9.00 to 11.00" wide. I really wouldn't recommend that wide of a tire on that narrow of a wheel. If you could even get it mounted there would be a lot of stress on the sidewall and bead area. This wouldn't help with clearance either. (awaiting incoming flames from tire stretchers )

The 275 710 has an extremely wide section width. A Mustang friend of mine found them unusable on a 9" wheel and had to step up to a 10.5" wheel.
