Toyo Proxy 4?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently in need of new tires... I contacted my local tire guy and he suggested that I get the Toyo Proxy 4's for my evo, can anyone give a rating for the tire?

He offered me an uber deal on the tires and I just want to know if I should jump on it or not.

Thanks!

These tires are great buy! I have it on my Evo. Grips close to the advans in wet/dry conditions with better treadwear rating.

I am running Toyo Proxy T1-S which is their best street tire. They are not as good as the Advans. I can't believe that the Proxy 4s are even close. As far as the Proxy 4s go the price is good, they will last long, but you will be severely disappointed in their performance when compared to the Advans. Nothing but a DOT race tire compares with the Advans.

::update::

after driving for about 200 mi on the tires... i must say i'm disappointed right now... i don't know if they just need to be broken in a bit more or what... but these tires kinda make me drive with a certain fear... as if the car is ready to spin out or slide... the initial feel of the tires feel like the car is on butter... slight movement of the wheel sends the front of the car into the turn with a delayed reaction to the back... would that be cause of a weak sidewall? tire needs to be driven on a bit longer? or the treads so deep it just moves along with the tire?

***not happy with toyo proxy4***

Had proxes4 for about 3-4000 miles and it did take away the razor sharp feel to the car , the howl alot quicker other works there no Advan's . But they are all season tires , last longer and you got a good deal ! BTW it took some miles b4 they got broke in good , 300-400 miles , 255/40/17

what do you mean by "the howl alot quicker"? how do the characteristics of the tire change after broken in?

I'm running the Proxes 4 too. For what they are, I think they're great tires. If you expected anywhere near the grip of the stock Advans you'll definately be dissapointed.

IMHO the Proxes 4s are a better street compromise tire. They grip very well in the wet and have much more compliant sidewalls. I run RA1s on the track & on the street in the summer so I'm not sweating the lack of grip. Once I relearned how to toss the car into corners with the Proxes 4s I got over the harsh ride and lousy cold weather performance of the Advans.

I had the proxy fz4's on my celica and they sucked.. There is no way they are going to compare to the Advans.
