Anyone mounted 17x9 wheels with 275/40-17 tires?
I am debating between mounting 255/40-17s and 275/40-17s Toyo RA-1s on a set of 17x9 rims for track days. I know the narrower tires would be an excellent fit for both the tire and rim.
The 275's would be a bit of a strech; while a 17x9 is listed as OK, the prefered rim is a 17x9.5. I'm wondering how much of a negative impact the extra circumfrence and slightly pulled in side walls will have on the contact patch and side loading.
