Need Advice on Wheel offset's relation with performance/handling!!
Does wheel offset have any effect on performance/handling of the car? My evo stock wheels have +38 offset. If I buy ralliart wheels with +30 offset, will the car act any differently. And also one more thing: My stock wheels are 17 X 8.0 and the Ralliart wheels are 17 X 8.5....So will my stock tires fit these new rims? thanks guys...

8 to 8.5 is not bad for a 235 tire. offsets that are close to stock like that will be fine as long as your fenders can swallow the tires.
if you wanna go bigger or wider or out more what you end up worrying about is hub wear, long studs to keep the wheel on, spacers sizing and major fender designing.

the answer is, "it depends". Wheel offset, backspacing, and width go hand in hand. There are proper and improper ways to fit larger wheels onto any car, the Evo included.
The Ralliart wheels, for example, are sized specifically for the Evo - so while the wheel is 1/2 inch wider than stock, the offset is decreased to accomodate this. The net result is a wheel that clears the calipers easily, and fits without the use of spacers, longer studs, or fender mods.
