You can't miss the holes, they're right on the hat. On the hat, there are 5 wholes for the lugs and then 2 more holes. Those 2 extra holes are the holes we're talking about. If you don't want to try to find screws in your engine bay and would rather buy some before the project, you can get some 8mm x 1.25 pitch screws.

I may need to do this soon, so I'm curious: how do you "find screws in your
engine bay" that are the right size? I'm not just going to start unbolting things
at random. How do you find a bolt of the right size? Are they all marked?
Just curious.

I chose to go to a hardware store and buy two bolts rather than try to find some in the engine bay as others have done. I think it cost around 70 cents.

A decade later and this thread saved someone else a trip to the hardware store. Couldn't get my rotors off and found this thread. Took two screws off of my heat shield and had the rotors off in minutes...

When I had the rear rotors off I took advantage of access to the parking brake adjuster and for the first time in the life of this car it has a parking brake that works.

I'm just always glad when i do brakes on the evo compared to my Honda Odyssey or Ford Fusion. Thank goodness the evo rotor is just held in place by the wheel / lugs. Having to buy an impact screwdriver just to get the rotor screws out of my other vehicles is insane.
