Angry EVO VIII Tires

Hello everyone....I've been looking around here for any teck on the tires for the New EVO VIII, but couldn't find any.........so I thought this might be a good place to post it......just to start, I am a car dealer...I work for a very large dealership that sells Oldsmobiles, Chevys, Fords, Lincolns, Mercurys, Buicks, Cadillacs,GMCs,
Pontiacs, Saturns, Sabbs, Hyundais, kias, Jeeps, Dodges, Toyotas, Subarus, Isuzus, Suzukis,......and MITSUBISHIs.....we have a different dealership for all of them in the same area...but as how this relates to EVO VIII's.....well lets just say that I was at the Mitsu dealership today, and heard the Teck guys talking about the special EVO maintance class they all went to....it turns out the tires on the EVO VIII only last about 20,000 miles...and just a note for all you cold weather guys thinking about getting one.....you cant drive it when it's 32 degress or colder......apparently the tires are made of a compond that does not heat up AT ALL in cold weather....they apparenty were told that driving one of them in the cold would be like Sliding on ICE.............Just a little note......let me know if anyone has found anythign else about this....................

That's how it is with most high performance summer tires. They have low treadwear ratings, zero to minimal snow traction, and they perform poorly below 40 degrees.

If you manage to get 20,000 miles out of your tires in the Evo...then you don't need one in the first place.

Well IUP200 I don't want to make you feel bad but if the EVO VIII has the exact same Yoko's (A046's) as the VII you are going to be hurting. I got 1200 miles out of mine on the VII. But most of that was track time. They are wicked fine tires. As for snow and ice traction they are an outright death ticket. If you at all intent to drive in the snow, invest in some Blizak's....quickly. It is a world of difference. I only hope that the A046's are cheaper if they are now offered in the US, because I ordered some from Coordsport and as I recalled they were about $1400 USD, I'd have to check again though. I am sure that there would be plenty of suitable replacements but if do any track time with decent tires don't expect to get much mileage out of any worthwhile piece of rubber

20k out of Evo tires ummm dude you spelled tech wrong and saab wrong. Mitsu is selling chains for the rear tires as a parts option so that'll help us up in NYC and cold weather climates

Mitsubishi only posted the 20k mile use so that when you give the car a walk around, you won't have to tell the customer about needing stock in a tire company. You would do well to tell the customer these tires will be needed changed every few gas fill ups! LMAO The vehicle basically has two speeds
1) floored to the ground
2) parked so it cools off

Wake up and drive!

Actually according to the March edition of EVO (the magazine, a Austrialian rag) the Yoko A046's that the US gets are a made of a harder compund to keep the sissy "yanks" from complaining about tire wear. Too bad the UK and Jap compound is smashing.
