Evo IX GT comes with Different tyres – described as having "greater abrasion resistance and superior wet adhesion compared to the on-the-limit grip of the
A046”. (The GSR comes with Yokohama ADVAN A046 tyres, while
the GT comes with ADVAN A046D boots)

Are you going to be able to get the regular A046? I buy A046's for there great grip not for there wear ability do you or can you get the tread wear rating of the new A046D for a comparison? Also if they are a lessor tire shouldnt they cost less?

You might want to check your info again see review of Evo IX GT and it describes the new A046D it is not the same tire.

Dude, its Neal from Tirerack.com, he knows what he's talking bout.

Neal, just like Mr. MR, what tire pressures do you recommended running the A046s at on a stock EVO VIII GSR(base) for aggressive street driving? Also, is the a pressure combination to help take away understeer (I have heard methods before, but not from a pro)?

If I am wrong then why does Yokohama put regular Advans on on the IX GSR/MR/RS and only the A046D on the GT in Japan and the UK. They are not the same tires watch the Best motoring video as well as the report above I posted above from fastfoursvip it has a different compound then the regular Advan A046, How else do you explain the D conotation as well as the increased wear and better wet handling. I am sure Neal can tell you there is always a trade off for one or the other. This is why I asked him for the tread wear rating (UTQC) is it higher than 160 AA .

I am not knocking either Neal or tire rack or the Advans. I just would like to know if the regular Advans are still available because thats whats advertised on there website at tirerack.com. If I have a choice I do not want the A046D I want the regular A046 I am willing to give up wet and greater abrasion resistance for better grip and increased wear like my Advans I have now.

Yeah, I watched the best motoring video and they mentioned a different tire compound used for the GT, the A036D, being a tire that would last longer.

I'm not trying to intrude on your thread, but there is a diffrence between the A-046 & the A-046D's. In Japan these two tires come on different model Evos with diffrent grip in mind.

Could it be the that the new US Evo's only come with the A046D, I went and looked in the garage at my 2 new tires I just got a few weeks ago and it says in big letters A046 then below right along the bead at the very bottom almost on the other side of the tires in small letters Made in Japan A046D. Now I am really confused I know in Japan the A046 and A046D are two different tires why does the US Evo's have both markings stamped on them. Maybe they intentionally leave it of of the big lettering to make us think we are getting the same tires the rest of the Evo's have in Japan?
