5Zigen FNO1R-C or ENKEI RPF-1

5Zigen FNO1R-C or Enkei RPF-1?? I need more tire on the ground for roadracing.
Stock BBS wheels with 225/45/17 Khumos were OK but more tire with wheel
under it would be better. Enkei 17x8.5 +30mm will work as the extra .5 in is to the
outside. The 5Zigen 17x9 will have .5 in to the outside & .5 in to the inside. My
concern is on the inside as I can roll the rear to clear. I would like a reply from
an ACTUAL USER (not from a vendor or "I know someone") as to problems
such as tires,strut clearance.lowering etc.

That's funny, I was debating between these exact same wheels for a track set. I havent heard of any fitment issues with the 5Zigen's so I deicded to get them for next season based on cost ($60/rim cheaper). I love how lightweight the Enkei's are but I doubt I will feel the difference when just doing DE's.

I think it will come down to tire width and brand if you have fitment issues or not.

I'm running FN01R-C's (17x9, +35 offset) with 255/40/17 RA-1's, no problem. They are my track wheels. I think the RPF's are lighter but I've also heard of some problems with flex with them. The 5zigens are very strong and reasonably light. Cheaper to replace too. I've been very happy w/ them. You'd have to roll the fenders to go with 275's. My car is lowered with Espelir GT springs. Robispec budget setup.

Do you have to roll you fenders w/ the 255s? Do you need any special lug nuts or longer wheels studs too? I'm thinking of getting your exact setup David.

My fenders were rolled in anticipation of moving up to 275's eventually. Shouldn't need to roll the fenders for 255's.

The lugs I'm using are just acorn type lugs that came with my SSR GT2's. did not need longer wheel studs or spacers.

I'm really happy with this setup.

some considerations:

1. weight - RPF1 fits in both 17x8.5 +30 and +40 - both clear the brembos and both fit the car well. RPF1 is a lot lighter though.

2. tire fitment - gotta get you guys away from quoting tire size without brand. There can be very wide variations among "255/xx/xx tires" - it is not an exact sceience, and is effectively a meaningless number, except when compared in relation to the same exact tire of another size. Just like boost in and of itself is meaningless (gotta know the turbo making it), and just like large shirts from one store and not the same size as larges from another.

each tire manufacturer has the physical dimensions posted on their sites - best bet is to compare the brands you are considering and then relate that to stock to figure out how much more of a contact patch you'll have. After all, the contact patch is the only thing that matters, not the size of the tire printed on the sidewall.

Interesting aside, from personal experience. On my own 350Z, I switched in the spring from 245/40/18 front; 275/40/18 rear Toyo T1S to the same exact size S03. I did not change wheel size, did not change wheel offset, did not change rideheight...nothing about the car changed at all except the tires. The t1S had zero issues even with relatively minimal negative camber (-1.5); the S03 rub with even 3 degrees negative camber...that is how much of a difference there is in width between these two tires, despite the fact that they are identical "sizes".
